For maximum enjoyment, your theme should be fairly recognizable to guests. While you’re totally free to theme your wedding based on an obscure anime you both like, your big day might be more fun if your guests are in on it as well.

It’s very likely that your tastes, hobbies, and interests will change over the course of your lifetime, so instead of theming your wedding around your favorite book or movie franchise, celebrate your culture! Picking a theme that’s personal to the two of you can make the day feel much more poignant.
You can also tie your wedding theme in with your honeymoon destination, especially if you’re going somewhere tropical and exotic or having a destination wedding. And your wedding theme can be just as much a part of your ceremony as it is your reception. Just don’t forget to involve your wedding officiant.
