Bachelorette Party Ideas

Bachelorette parties have come a long way in recent years. And lucky for you, San Antonio and the surrounding area is a vibrant blend of history, culture, and entertainment.

Take these ideas and make it a special night or a fun-packed weekend with your closest friends.

1. Winery/Brewery Tours

Take a sip of some local flavor by spending a day at one of the many local wineries or breweries in the area. This is perfect for brides who opt for a bachelorette weekend as opposed to just one wild evening. And if you do it early enough, you might find some local beers or wines to have at your wedding!

2. The River Walk

The famous San Antonio River Walk is a can’t miss experience. The River Walk is lined with delicious restaurants, unique shops, and beautiful scenery, making it an excellent spot for either a great night on the town or brunch the next morning. If you like being on the water, book a riverboat tour and enjoy the scenery from a different angle.

Don’t forget, just a few steps away is the famous Alamo!

3. Enjoy the Local Cuisine

In San Antonio, Tex-Mex is king. You’ll find the best tacos, fajitas, and margaritas of your life everywhere you go. And here in Boerne (just 10 minutes away from downtown San Antonio), we add in plenty of options for authentic German cuisine, thanks to our own rich history. (Take a look at some of our favorite eateries!)

4. Hit the Town

If you’re looking to really party, there’s no place like San Antonio. If the winery and brewery tours weren’t enough, hit up a wine car or distillery for some new tastes. Dance the night away at the popular Howl at the Moon and many other dance spots. And if you’re looking for great views, check out one of the city’s many rooftop bars.

5. Take a Ghost Tour

With a city as old as San Antonio, you know there are some ghosts lurking around. Come find them with a ghost tour/pub crawl and learn a whole new side of San Antonio’s history. Bonus idea: come in costume to match your guide!

6. Relax at the Spa

Wedding planning is a fun, wonderful, and yes, stressful time. So when the bachelorette weekend comes around, relaxation is key. Lucky for you, San Antonio has numerous luxurious spas for you to enjoy.

If you’re planning to have your bachelorette party the same weekend as your wedding, you and your bridesmaid will love spending the day at the spa, releasing tension, getting your nails done, and spending the time together. If you’re going for the full bachelorette weekend, hitting the spa is the perfect afternoon activity.

When to Have Your Bachelorette Party

It used to be that the night before the wedding was when you had the bachelor and bachelorette parties.

While that’s still perfectly fine, many people have opted to have a bachelorette weekend getaway several weeks or months before the big day. Most of the planning has been done by this time, the wedding party all have their dresses, and the only thing left to do is wait for RSVPs to roll in.

So how do you decide between the two? Lucky for you, Kendall Point is here to help.

Bachelorette Weekend Getaway: Pros & Cons

The pros to having a bachelorette weekend well before your actual wedding date are having more quality time with your closest friends and not dealing with wedding stress at the same time.

Your dress is safe at home, there are no additional guests showing up, and you don’t have to worry about the caterer or florist being late or any other possible hiccups that might accompany the big day.

Not to mention, you can fit more activities into a weekend than you can into one day or night.

The cons are this is an added expense for your wedding party. Flights, accommodations, and all those fancy restaurants and bars can add up quickly.

If much of your bridal party (and you) will already be traveling to the wedding itself, be sure to pick a bachelorette party location, weekend, and events that will be cost-effective. If your wedding is in town for you and many of your close friends, why not plan a getaway to somewhere new and exciting?

Bachelorette Party Before the Wedding: Pros & Cons

If you opt to have a more simple bachelorette party the same weekend as your wedding, it means less travel for you and your bridal party, and it means less time for activities, so if you’re looking to save money, this is a pro.

If you’re having a shorter engagement, you might not have time in everyone’s schedules to add a bachelorette weekend—or the time to plan a whole weekend—so the days before the wedding are your best option.

Plus, if you have the bachelorette party the same weekend as the wedding and you’re more low-key anyway, you can do a simple joint open bar with your groom and his bachelor party.

A major con to having the party right before the wedding is you’ll be preoccupied with last-minute wedding details the whole time. If you want that distraction for several hours though, this might be a pro.

As we said, this is your bachelorette party, so don’t be afraid to make it exactly what you want.
